Kevin Lowden

Kevin Lowden is an experienced researcher and consultant with over 26 years experience in managing and conducting a range of national and international education research and evaluation projects. As a  Research Fellow at the SCRE Centre, School of Education, University of Glasgow his work has mainly focused on professional learning and development, lifelong learning, school transformation and innovation in education. He has recently led the evaluation of two national SSERC science education CPD programmes that have been undertaken since 2009. The findings from these evaluations have informed and impacted on policy and practice at national and local levels.

Kevin’s experience across interdisciplinary areas means he has expertise in a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research methods as well as an in-depth understanding of the key processes and factors that influence education and professional programmes. He  lectures on research methods to post graduate students and delivers CPD to build teachers’ self-evaluation capacity; he has co-authored a book on applied research methods for these audiences. He has a lead role in international Grundtvig networks and has published and presented widely.
